A canoe, also known as kanu – a small tourist boat or sports boat powered by a single-side paddle (paddle). The kayaker is kneeling or sitting facing the direction of travel. The modern-day tourist canoe is descended from the boats of the North American Indians. It is wider than a kayak and usually has no deck (cockpit).
